THE WEB OF LIFE
Artist Statement.
This exhibition is my response to the deeply troubling times we are living in. The work is a creation of intention to find remedy for what I perceive to be a fragmented and disconnected humanity.
My observation is that the fragmentation is fueled and driven by an illusion of separation…that we are alone, that we are some how cut off from the rest of life, that we are some how cut off from nature.

Remedy, for me, is therefore, to remember that all life is one, that everything is alive and is somehow connected.
We are all a deliberate and significant thread in the grand weaving of the Web of life. We all matter, and we are an intrinsic part of nature, as nature is an intrinsic part of us.
In this remembering, the human family can reconnect with ourselves and unite with the rest of creation. The individual choices we make, our personal thread in the web, can positively affect how this all turns out.

I humbly pray that my interpretation of these primordial landscapes will lead you home to the magnificence of nature within yourself. That they will inspire you to contemplate yourself as a part of the great Web of life. That they may remind you that we are all one in the grand intelligence that is life and that we are sacred beyond our wildest imaginings.

Join Helêna for the unique experience of creating with her in her exhibition space. In this full day workshop she will guide you through an experiential process to deepen your relationship with yourself, you creativity and the natural world.
With the use of Initiatic Art Processes ( drawn from 30 years experience as an Art Therapist ) and basic materials we will explore the idea of creating from the place of connection with the inner and outer landscapes.
This workshop is not about technique. It is about art as self expression, healing and connection.
Helêna will share with you and guide you through a journey that will help you to arrive in the place that allows her to create the way she does. She will encourage you to deepen your relationship with your personal style and to trust it as a unique expression of your thread in the Web of life.
At the end of the day you will take home experiential drawings, practices for connecting with yourself, your art, and nature, a small painting and hopefully a sense of awe for the creative process and a heart fulfilled with the beauty of sharing this kind of experience.
You do not need to be an artist to attend this day, although all artists are welcome. There is no skill level required just a sense of adventure and a willingness to explore.
